Catch a Monster Tier List (December 2025)

With the recent Holiday Update and the introduction of Gingerjoy, the meta in Catch a Monster has shifted dramatically. This Tier List ranks every major monster based on their performance in Endless Spire, Boss Farming, and General Progression.

S+ Tier (The "Broken" Tier)

These monsters are currently overtuned and outperform everything else, regardless of rank.

🍪 Gingerjoy

Role: Pure DPS / Carry Why it's S+: Currently, a D-Rank Gingerjoy deals more damage (~154k) than most C-Rank or B-Rank monsters from the latest islands. Verdict: If you have one, use it. It trivializes most content, including the difficult Floor 50 of the Spire.

S Tier (The Meta)

These are the best monsters in the game for their specific roles. You should aim to have a full team of these.

🐘 Mountusk

Role: Tank / Healer Why it's S: The Heal Pulse ability is essential for surviving long runs in the Endless Spire. A team of 3 Mountusks was the standard meta before Gingerjoy. Weakness: Takes 200% damage from the Floor 50 Boss (Earth Counter).

🔥 Flarecrest

Role: Glass Cannon (High DPS) Why it's S: Offers the highest raw DPS among the standard bosses. Perfect for melting bosses quickly if you have a tank to absorb damage. Best For: Boss Rushes and Time Trials.

❄️ Glazadon

Role: Bruiser (Balanced) Why it's S: Great mix of Health and Damage. It's the best alternative to Mountusk for Floor 50 because it doesn't take the Earth-type penalty.

A Tier (Solid Picks)

These monsters are great for mid-game progression but fall off in the late game (Spire 50+).

🌱 Sproutusk

Role: Early Game Carry Verdict: Excellent for getting through the first few islands. A high-rank (A/S) Sproutusk can still compete, but will eventually be outclassed by Mountusk.

🌑 Nightclaw

Role: DPS Verdict: The newest island monster. Decent stats, but surprisingly weaker than the event-exclusive Gingerjoy.

B Tier (Starter / Niche)

🌟 Starshade

Verdict: Good for beginners ("if ur like a starter"), but lacks the scaling to be useful in the Spire.

💧 Aquilune

Verdict: Often considered weak by the community ("Aquiline is so weak wth"). Only use if you have no other options.

How Ranks Affect Tiers

Remember that Rank (E to S) matters more than the species in some cases. An S-Rank Sproutusk might be better than an E-Rank Mountusk. * Exception: Gingerjoy is so strong that even a D-Rank version beats most B-Rank monsters.
