Catch a Monster Holiday Event Guide: Gingerjoy, Keys & Codes (2025)

The Holiday Update has arrived in Catch a Monster, bringing with it a new event currency (Keys), a controversial Gacha system, and arguably the most broken monster the game has ever seen: Gingerjoy.

If you are wondering why everyone is talking about "Keys" or why a D-Rank Gingerjoy is out-damaging your best pets, this guide explains everything.

The New OP Monster: Gingerjoy

Gingerjoy is the star of this update, and for good reason. The stats on this unit are currently overtuned, making it the absolute best monster for progression, even at low ranks.

Gingerjoy vs. The Meta

To understand how powerful Gingerjoy is, let's look at the numbers reported by the community:

D-Rank Gingerjoy (Level 26): ~154k Damage C-Rank Nightclaw (Level 25): ~51k Damage

Yes, you read that right. A D-Rank Gingerjoy deals nearly 3x the damage of a C-Rank monster from the newest island.

Strategy: If you are a new player or struggling with the Endless Spire (Floor 49/50), your #1 priority should be obtaining a Gingerjoy. Even a low-rank one will carry you through 95% of the game's content.

The Keys System & Gacha

This update introduces a new Gacha mechanic that requires Keys to open.

How to Get Keys

  1. Codes: The easiest way to get your first 100 keys is through codes (see below).
  2. Boss Farming: Keys can drop from bosses. The drop rate is low, so you will need to farm "tons of bosses" to accumulate a significant amount.
  3. Robux: As with most Gacha games, keys can be purchased directly.

The Pity System (Warning!)

There is a "Pity" system that guarantees a high-tier reward after a certain number of pulls (believed to be 80). However, players have reported major bugs with this system:

The Bug: The Pity counter may reset if you pull a lower-rank version of the featured pet (e.g., a D-Rank Gingerjoy) without visually resetting the counter. Result: You might think you are close to a guaranteed S-Rank, but your counter has secretly reset. Advice: Be cautious when spending Robux on keys until this is confirmed fixed.

Active Holiday Codes

Don't miss out on these free keys to start your Gacha pulls:

Keys - Rewards 50 Keys Keys50 - Rewards 50 Keys rankA - Rewards Arcane Spark Tone (Used for ranking up/evolution)

Note: Codes are case-sensitive. Enter them exactly as shown.

Endless Spire Strategy Update

With the introduction of Gingerjoy, the strategy for the Endless Spire has shifted.

The Wall: Floors 49 and 50 are notoriously difficult due to elemental debuffs (e.g., Earth types take 200% more damage). Old Meta: Mountusk was king due to its Heal Pulse ability, allowing teams to sustain through long fights. * New Meta: Gingerjoy's raw DPS allows you to brute-force these levels before your team can be wiped out.

Summary

  1. Redeem Codes: Use Keys and Keys50 immediately.
  2. Pull for Gingerjoy: Use your keys in the event Gacha.
  3. Equip Immediately: Replace your weakest DPS unit with Gingerjoy, regardless of its rank.
  4. Push Content: Use your new power to clear the Spire and farm high-level bosses.
