How to Get Eclipse Knight in Catch a Monster (2026 Guide)
Step-by-step guide to getting Eclipse Knight in Catch a Monster. Learn the exact gem combo for the secret evolution, RNG odds, and how to farm ShadeKnight fast.

How to Get Eclipse Knight in Catch a Monster (2026)
Eclipse Knight is widely regarded as the best monster in Catch a Monster as of February 2026. It is a Secret Evolution of ShadeKnight, making it one of the most sought-after (and most asked-about) monsters in the entire game. This guide covers everything you need to know to get your own Eclipse Knight.
What is Eclipse Knight?
Eclipse Knight is obtained by performing a Secret Evolution on ShadeKnight. Unlike standard evolutions, Secret Evolutions have a random success rate — you are not guaranteed to get Eclipse Knight on your first attempt.
Role: Tank / Shield / DPS Why it is the best: Eclipse Knight's shield mechanic absorbs damage for your entire team. A+10 (maximum ascension) is the current endgame pinnacle. Max Rank: A (can be ascended to A+10 with Arcane Spark Stones)
Step 1: Get ShadeKnight
ShadeKnight is the boss on Neverland Island (recommended Level 50+).
ShadeKnight respawns approximately every 15 minutes Defeating ShadeKnight also unlocks the Level 55 cap (achievement: "Boss Killer: Shade Knight") ShadeKnight has a small chance to be caught as a pet from wild spawns on Neverland (23% catch rate for the shiny wild variant) Tip: Server hop between public servers to reset ShadeKnight's respawn timer and farm faster
Step 2: Collect the Required Gems
The Secret Evolution requires Refined Gems of multiple types. You need:
| Gem Type | Amount Needed |
|---|---|
| :--- | :--- |
| Refined Fire Gem | 3 |
| Refined Water Gem | 11 (3 base + 8 extra) |
| Refined Ice Gem | 3 |
| Refined Plant Gem | 3 |
| Refined Dark Gem | 3 |
| Refined Ground Gem | 3 |
Total: 26 Refined Gems (community shorthand: "3 of each type + 8 extra water gems")
Where to Farm Each Gem Type
| Gem | Drop Source | Location |
|---|---|---|
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| Refined Fire Gem | Flaragon boss | Volcano Island peak |
| Refined Water Gem | Glazadon, Aqua Starshade event boss | Frost Isle |
| Refined Ice Gem | Glazadon boss | Frost Isle mountain top |
| Refined Plant Gem | Mountusk boss, Spire room bosses | Frost Isle / Spire |
| Refined Dark Gem | ShadeKnight boss | Neverland Island |
| Refined Ground Gem | Aurobull boss | Dunevil Isle |
How to Craft Refined Gems (Alternative)
If you cannot farm a specific gem type, you can craft Refined Gems: 3x Stardust Shards + 1x Raw Gem = 1x Refined Gem (75% success rate) Stardust Shards drop from event bosses (~5–15% drop rate)
Step 3: Attempt the Secret Evolution
- Go to the Evolution Station in the main hub (Starter Island)
- Select ShadeKnight
- Select the Secret Evolution option
- Confirm using the required gems listed above
- Wait for the result
Understanding the RNG
The secret evolution is NOT guaranteed. Here is what the community has found:
Average attempts: 10–25 before success Some players: Get it on the first try Some players: Have gone 24+ attempts without success No pity system exists as of February 2026 (this is one of the most heavily requested features)
If you fail, you lose all the gem materials and must farm them again before retrying.
Community advice: Do not dump all your Stardust Shards into crafting before attempting. Farm naturally and keep a stockpile so you can retry quickly.
Step 4: Ascend Your Eclipse Knight
Once you have Eclipse Knight, use Arcane Spark Stones to ascend it: Each ascension costs 1 Arcane Spark Stone (from Spire Shop, 500 Tower Gems each) Maximum ascension: A+10 You need 10 stones to reach A+10
At A+10, Eclipse Knight's shield becomes powerful enough to carry your team through Rifts and Spire floors 80+.
Best Team with Eclipse Knight
| Situation | Team |
|---|---|
| :--- | :--- |
| Endless Spire (all floors) | 2x Eclipse Knight A + 1x Undine B |
| Red Rift / Mechavolt | Eclipse Knight S + 2x Mechavolt B |
| Valentine / Kitsunine Rift | Eclipse Knight A + Undine B + Kitsunine A |
