Catch a Monster Starter Tips & Strategy 2025: Ranks, Money & Bosses

Welcome to your essential Catch a Monster strategy guide! While basic tutorials cover the controls, this guide focuses on the tips, tricks, and strategies you need to progress efficiently and build a powerful team fast.

If you want to know how to farm millions of coins, which bosses to prioritize, and how the rank system really affects your power, read on.

Early Game Strategy: The Basics (Levels 1-7)

When you first spawn into the world of Catch a Monster, you start at Level 1. It might be tempting to run off and explore, but here is the most important advice for new players:

Follow the Quest Line!

The tutorial quests are designed to teach you the mechanics of the game. Skipping them often leads to confusion later on.

Key Milestones

Level 5: Unlocks your 3rd Monster Slot. This is a huge power spike, allowing you to have three monsters fighting for you at once. Prioritize reaching Level 5 immediately. Level 7: Unlocks Auto Attack. This is a game-changer for farming. Once you have auto-attack, your monsters will automatically target nearby enemies, making grinding much easier.

The Hub and Portals

On the starting island, if you run all the way to the end, you'll find a portal. This leads to the Hub Area. The Hub is your central base of operations where you can:

Heal your monsters: Use the healing pad to restore your team's health. Buy Upgrades: Visit the upgrade shop to improve your character and monsters. Purchase Capture Balls: You can buy better capture balls here. The basic ones start at 200 coins.

Understanding Ranks: E to S Tier

One of the most confusing aspects for new players is the Rank System. Every monster you catch or hatch comes with a rank, ranging from E (Lowest) to S (Highest).

Why Ranks Matter

Ranks aren't just for show. A higher rank monster has significantly better stats: Damage: An S-rank monster can have ~30% more damage than an E-rank. Health: Higher ranks have ~20% more health.

For example, a Flarecrest at a higher rank will destroy bosses much faster than a lower rank version.

How to Get Higher Ranks

  1. Catching: Every time you catch a monster, it has a random chance to be any rank from E to S.
  2. Ranking Up (Fusion): You can manually rank up your monsters at the "Pet Upgrades" NPC in the Hub.
You can fuse multiple lower-rank monsters to create a higher-rank one.

Tip: Before moving to a new zone, try to get a full team of at least C-Rank monsters. This will make the next area much easier.

Special Variants: Shiny and Brute

Beyond normal ranks, there are two special variants of monsters you should look out for:

1. Shiny Monsters

Visual: They sparkle in the overworld. Bonus: They have a +30% Critical Hit Chance. Strategy: Shinies are great for DPS (Damage Per Second) builds.

2. Brute Monsters

Visual: They are larger and have purple lightning effects. Bonus: They have +30% Health and +30% Damage. Strategy: Brutes are excellent tanks and damage dealers.

Pro Tip: Both Shinies and Brutes give you extra Index Points, which are useful for unlocking rewards.

Boss Guide: Spawns and Drops

Bosses are the key to getting some of the strongest monsters in the game. Here is what you need to know:

Spawn Timer: Bosses spawn every 15 minutes. You can server hop to find them more frequently.

The Bosses

  1. Flaregon (Volcano Boss)
Location: Inside the Volcano.

Drops: Pyrolasm Egg (Guaranteed Flaregon hatch) and Flaregon Scales (used for crafting/upgrading).

  1. Glazedon (Ice Boss)
Location: At the very top of the Ice Island.

Drops: Glacier Egg (Guaranteed Glazedon hatch). Note: Glazedon is considered one of the best monsters for beginners to farm.

  1. Turkey Boss (Event)
Location: Event area.

Drops: Turkey Egg.

Warning: In public servers, boss drops can be "sniped" by other players if you are AFK. Stay active to secure your loot!

Eggs and Hatching

Eggs are another way to get monsters. You can find them in the wild or get them from bosses. Swamp Egg: Found in the first area. fast to hatch. Fire Egg: Found in the Volcano. This is the only way to get Noctane. Glacier Egg: Drops from Glazedon.

Tip: Always pick up eggs you see on the ground, especially early on. You will need them later for fusion fodder.

Money Making Tips & Tricks

Running low on Coins or Gems? Here are some community-tested strategies:

1. The "Endless Dungeon" Method

Requirement: Reach Level 25 in the Endless Dungeon. Strategy: Only kill the Turtle enemy. Reward: It gives 500 Coins and 300 Gems per kill. Loop: Kill the turtle, exit, and repeat. Do not kill other enemies. This is one of the fastest ways to farm gems.

2. AFK Farming with Unicorn

Monster: Unicorn (or any monster with AOE/Area of Effect attacks). Location: Wattoads spawn area. Strategy: The Unicorn's AOE attack can wipe out multiple Wattoads at once. Each Wattoad gives ~13 coins. Set up an auto-clicker (if allowed) or auto-attack and leave it overnight for massive coin gains.
