Catch a Monster Red Rift Guide (2026)

Red Rifts are the core endgame activity in Catch a Monster. They are the only way to obtain Eclipse Knight, Undine, and Mechavolt — three of the strongest monsters in the game. If you have been asking "how do I get into a Rift?" or "what is a carry?", this guide answers everything.

What is a Red Rift?

A Red Rift is a special instanced boss encounter accessed using Red Rift Portals. Inside, you face an extremely powerful boss (Mechavolt) with the chance to catch legendary monsters upon completion.

Mechavolt HP: 9 to 13 billion (scales UP with more players) Monsters available inside: Mechavolt, Eclipse Knight, Undine Who can enter: Anyone with at least 1 portal; boss damage qualifies you for loot

How to Get Red Rift Portals

There are two ways to get Red Rift Portals:

1. Spire Tower Shop (Main Method)

Up to 10 cheap Red Rift Portals available per week in the Spire Shop Reset weekly alongside the shop stock This is the most reliable and accessible way to get portals as an F2P player

2. Wild Rifts (Weekend Only)

Red Rifts occasionally spawn in the open world on weekends Spawning is random and contested — first team to a portal gets to open it

Understanding HP Scaling

This is the most important mechanic to understand before joining a Rift:

Players in RiftApproximate Mechavolt HP
:---:---
1 (solo)~9 billion
3~11 billion
6–12~13 billion

Critical takeaway: More players = more HP. A weak player who cannot deal meaningful damage is actively hurting the group by inflating the boss HP without contributing damage. This is why strong players prefer to run Rifts in a Private Server with 2–3 trusted players rather than a full 12-person public server.

The optimal way to run Red Rifts:

  1. Buy a Private Server (or join a friend's)
  2. Invite 1–2 other strong players (or just go solo if you are powerful enough)
  3. Open your Rift Portals with minimal players to keep boss HP low
  4. A solo player with S Eclipse Knight + 2x B Mechavolt can clear Rifts alone

What is a "Carry" and How to Get One

A carry is when a strong player helps weaker players complete a Rift. The strong player does the majority of damage; the weaker player just needs to deal any damage to qualify for loot.

How to find a carry:

  1. Open the official Catch a Monster Discord
  2. Post in the #chat channel: "LF carry [X] Red Rifts, DM me"
  3. Share your Roblox username or post a screenshot of your rifts
  4. Wait for a strong player to invite you to their Private Server

Many experienced players actively offer carries in the Discord chat daily — just check the channel.

100% Catch Rate Trick

Once the boss is defeated, you need to actually catch the monster (Undine, Mechavolt, or Eclipse Knight). Use this combination for a 100% catch rate:

Pet Snack (from the Spire Tower Shop) — gives +200% catch rate for 5 minutes Ripple Ball (mid-tier catch ball) — standard catch ball

Pet Snack + Ripple Ball = 100% catch rate on Undine and Mechavolt. Use the Pet Snack just before the boss dies, then immediately press E to catch.

5-second egg protection window: After the boss dies, you have 5 seconds where only the player who dealt the killing blow can grab the egg. After 5 seconds, anyone can pick it up. Spam your catch action immediately.

Red Rift Loot Table

MonsterDrop ChanceNotes
:---:---:---
UndineCommonBest stun monster; Undine B > Tidevex A
MechavoltLess commonHigh DPS; requires Eclipse Knight to support
Eclipse KnightRareBest endgame monster; shield mechanic

All players in the Rift who dealt any damage are eligible to receive XP and coins. Only one player gets the monster egg per run.

Tideland Rift (Alternative)

If you cannot access Red Rifts yet, Tideland Rift (from Tideland Island) is an easier alternative that also contains Undine. The boss is less demanding and appropriate for mid-game players.

Tideland Rift III is the harder version for more experienced players.

Tips for Hosting Your Own Rift

Always use a Private Server to control who joins Invite people you know can deal consistent damage Open all your portals in one session if possible — momentum is easier to maintain Post in Discord after your run to find more carries if needed for your remaining portals
