Catch a Monster Mutation Guide: Shiny, Huge & Bloodlit (2026)
Mutations are special variants of monsters that have enhanced visuals and bonus stats. There are three mutation types in Catch a Monster: Shiny, Huge, and Bloodlit. This guide explains how each one works, how to get them, and how to preserve mutations through the fusion system.
Mutation Types Overview
| Mutation | Visual | Stat Bonus | Primary Source | Rarity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- |
| Shiny | Alternate sparkly color | HP + ATK boost | Any egg/wild catch (low %) | Rare |
| Huge | Giant size | Significant stat boost | Any egg/wild catch (very low %) | Very Rare |
| Bloodlit | Dark/red tint | Crit rate increase | Bloodmoon weather | Rare |
Shiny Mutations
What is Shiny?
Shiny monsters have an alternate color scheme with a sparkle effect. They have noticeably better base stats than their standard equivalents (both HP and ATK are boosted).
How to Get Shiny Monsters
There is a base chance on any catch or egg hatch to receive a Shiny variant Luck Gamepasses improve your odds (Ultra Luck +300% is most efficient) Bloodmoon weather increases mutation rates generally, including Shiny No specific special requirement — just keep catching and hatching
Shiny Fusion (Critical Mechanic)
This is the most important thing to know about Shinies:
1 Shiny monster + 4 normal same-rank monsters = 1 Shiny result
The Shiny property transfers through fusions You can start with an E-rank Shiny and fuse your way up to a Shiny B-rank, then A-rank Never sell or fuse away your Shiny into a non-Shiny slot unless you have a plan
Strategy: When you get any Shiny — even E-rank — keep it and slowly fuse 5-of-kind groups where one member is always the Shiny. Over time you will have a high-rank Shiny.
Shiny + Huge Combination
It is theoretically possible to have a Shiny + Huge monster: Get a Shiny C-rank and a Huge C-rank of the same species Fuse 3 normal + 1 Shiny + 1 Huge The result has a chance to carry both mutations (community-reported, not 100% confirmed)
Huge Mutations
What is Huge?
Huge monsters are significantly larger in physical size with considerably boosted stats compared to regular or even Shiny versions of the same monster.
How to Get Huge Monsters
Random chance on any catch or egg hatch — even rarer than Shiny No confirmed special weather bonus for Huge (unlike Bloodlit for Bloodmoon) Higher-tier eggs (Ice Egg, Tidevex Egg) have better base chances
Huge Fusion Strategy
Never fuse away a Huge early: Even a Huge E-rank is extremely valuable Save 5 Huge C-rank versions of the same monster to fuse into a Huge B-rank A Huge A-rank is exceptionally powerful and rare
Patience is required: Building a Huge A-rank takes months of casual play. It is a long-term goal.
Bloodlit Mutations
What is Bloodlit?
Bloodlit is a mutation type introduced with the Weather System update. Bloodlit monsters have a dark-red visual effect and a bonus to critical hit rate.
Key difference from Shiny: Bloodlit does NOT boost HP (unlike Shiny). The bonus is purely offensive (crit rate).
How to Get Bloodlit Monsters
Bloodlit mutations appear primarily during Bloodmoon weather During Bloodmoon, the chance of catching or hatching a Bloodlit monster increases significantly You can open Rifts during Bloodmoon for a chance at Bloodlit Rift monsters
Bloodmoon Weather Tips
Monitor the weather display at the top of your screen When Bloodmoon appears, immediately switch to active catching/hatching/rifting Server hop to find a server currently in Bloodmoon if your server does not have it Bloodmoon + Red Rift is the most popular strategy: open your Rift portals when Bloodmoon is active for a chance at Bloodlit Eclipse Knight or Undine

Common Mistakes
Selling a Shiny accidentally: Enable gear/pet locking on all Shiny monsters immediately. Auto-sell can accidentally sell Shinies if not configured correctly. Fusing without a plan: Always check if any monster in a fusion batch is Shiny or Huge before confirming. The fusion menu does not warn you. Waiting for perfect rank: Do not wait for a Shiny S-rank to drop from an egg. Start with whatever rank you have and fuse up.
